I have before me 3 further new species from the closest relationship of
chalcipleurus and triplagus, all of which agree completely with these two
in the colouring and markings of the body as well as in the wing
colouring, but which can easily be distinguished by the shape and
markings of the wings, at least in the male sex; the females, of whose
association with the males I am, incidentally, not entirely sure, are
however only hard to tell apart.

*98. Calonotos acutipennis nov. spec. male female

In the male sex characterized by the decidedly triangular forewings,
whose termen is not rounded but almost straight, indeed even somewhat
indented at the end of vein 5. Veins 2 and 3 are somewhat bent upwards
and the submedian area on the underside is covered with fine androconia.
The hyaline spot at the end of the cell is fairly large and bounded in a
straight line inwardly and below, so that it shows an inner, lower
corner; above and outwardly it is rounded. The hyaline spot in the
submedian area is elongate and lies approximately below the middle of the
cell. The hyaline cell spot of the hindwings is likewise fairly large and
reaches to the stalk of veins 2-4; it is divided by the black-scaled
median fold into two parts, of which the upper one is much larger. The
female differs from the male by a third hyaline spot in cell 2 of the
forewings, which is roughly oval and smaller than the cell spot. Forewing
length 15-16 mm.

Taperinha, middle and end of June, 2 males, 2 females at light.
